Department of Communication and Media Technology

The Department of Communication and Media offers a degree course which leads to specialization in Public Relations, Print Media, and Electronic Media. These strands lead to a career in Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Radio and Television Journalism. The Bachelor’s program has a practical and theoretical base of training which allows students to exploit their talents in the communication profession. In addition, the department also offers a Masters Degree programme in Communication and Media. This programme enables students to ground their theory into concretized research in the media field. A doctoral programme is also offered by the department. Other programmes that the department has been able to mount are certificate and diploma programmes. 

To ensure quality service provision to students and to guarantee that the department is responsive to market needs in the areas of institutional communication, electronic and print media.

 

This program will train personnel on research and national development. Train journalists who can sub and report proficiently. We will train communication specialist who can handle institutional communication needs and also be responsive to new emergent situations. Train students on electronic media and how they can use that to transmit news and programmes to mass media audience. Enhance staff training and development so as to improve service, products, methods, and environment.
